There is danger in dreaming. But there is even more danger in waking up.
Blue Sargent has found things. For the first time in her life she has friends she can trust a group to which she can belong. The Raven Boys have taken her in as one of their own. Their problems have become hers and her problems have become theirs
The trick with found things though is how easily they can be lost. Friends can betray. Mothers can disappear. Visions can mislead. Certainties can unravel.
If you’ve read the previous two books in this series I think you will probably love this one. It’s Maggie’s classic dreamy pose and the characters you have come to love plus a few new ones some adorable some awful.
It was nice to see a different side to Adam this time round and the moments between Gansey and Blue were so fragile and brilliant. I loved Gansey’s professed friend who was a bit bonkers and the guy guarding the entrance to the cave. Ronan has less of a prominent role in this book but what story he has is brilliant and heart breaking. All the characters backstories are intriguing and I enjoyed finding out more about them.
I can see some people might criticise this book for having less plot and being one big build up to the final book but I think with this series I trust Maggie will take us on the right journey and her writing was so beautiful and her characters so interesting and sympathetic and well developed that I am more happy than to come along for the ride and see where we end up. It does feel like a symphonic build up to the grand finale though and the end is an epic cliff hanger so I am desperate to get my hands on the final book.
